A Strange & Inglorious Way... A quite strange & inglorious way to see the modern world with only (internationally) im-mobile & un-inter-netted Portuguese guise... with a word to the wise wide eyes of the world... only watching... Tele-path-i-port-a-tion... nonetheless... in full effect at the a capella Capela/Lounge/Music Box to 6 AM... (baying) down by the (river) docks... Palm tree "Se"-ing scenario June ("One" full-moon-day) dawn (gone).. on to "Twos"... day... spawn... A new, led, better rebellion... perhaps no tellin' of the subtle subliminal hellion mind kind control... through which we wail ( & rock) (& jazz) and roll... high-techno droll... out the barrel of a shot gunned... toll... escalating & navigating the ever steep, cobbled, stoned, winding ruas, and creaking, croned, wood-stair spirit-step child, chilled moans and homage to edificial centuries past... honed through the ages.... West Euro-pean/ North African (Atlant/Arcan- ian) sages, whose wages (of sin) we are blessed (in!) (Lisboa; 6/2/15) ©2015 Elliott Levin

A Symphony of Wild Life Soon... Xmas Eve/Eve Frat Cat croon perfect flatted platitudes pour fourth and plead the fifth... To Royal Roosted Dizzy Heights... and see the sights of occi-acci-dent-al flights of fan-see/hear/speak-no-evil, or un-turned tones... Priestley's Weekly LA in-toned texts of "Shel-Shabbat-Shalom"-Shocked Blessing, as holy, sardonic and twisted as Klarwein's demonic angel tongued trip of the... Ill & Noise Jacketed sports trans/pur-ports & purposes, intent to re-re-re-in-vent the Wheel of Fortune... spun to succumb to magic butter & jam session con/in-fusion/fession... one-toothed manic Small's tall order with an elephantine recall of appellation & attitude... Philly Scrapple from the Apple and more, again... until a symphony of Wild Life flutes & hoots, cute and suited for eternal placid gratitude... God, jest ye gerrymanded merry gentle wo-man-handed one-man band...City Hall arcaded conga mono/booty call drone boom box a-pall-mall demanded... an efficient deterrant for the rest of the seasoned fleeting busker's lament... A sorrier saga sent... ascension... to the mission of the vission-ary fission... Gone... to the bottom of the sea... (B foot) floor... re-boot... just like... before. A Trip of the Tongue Swooning Har-Mel-O-Dies ... a tilt, lilt applied (big) Apple patois-ist... Irkin' up a warm stormy wary Feb-ru-aquar-ian Mega-bust-in-loose- E-locution, used to induce a solution to the collusion to imbue the quickest way between two points (# me too)... Coco-cana-bis-ness nut oil to lube blunt senior joints... in absentia... never mind the on/off-set of dementia... Swayed... smarmy harmed mal-o-dious-ly delayed... Mainstay of the un-in-form- ing way of train-sit-in-hurry-up and wait, an in-sin-cer-it-ous-ly sparked spate of New-knee-Jerk-sey fate... now called for (all..a-) boarding, schooled, all a-ccording to taste... Won, un-sung... what a waste... in-stead... on (Yon) young (Teens) Town (tune) Time Tongue. (2/12/18) ©2018 Elliott Levin

another... night after night after night another... night after night after night @ the foot ramped descent of red brick grafitteed South Straight Street Dock of the bank of the Dela-waried diving ducks... bottoms up... bobs and weaves... a lonely wandered path...a toast... a host of golden daffodils... in the wake of fast, massive (light strung be-decked) ships (passing) in the night... Honey sticky finger tipped homage to our love rights... left for all our guardian sounds and sights... (with all our might)... for sore I's... Pure highs... (as to) more dumb "whys?", than just any wisdom supplies...the rhyme or reason... To surmise or appease on any given Fri- day-night... To find and forge a whole-(sty-)listic force to bind and surge a kind-er merge, and trust... Just-Us! And stay that way another day... after day... after day! (4/9/16) ©2016 Elliott Levin

about

Elliott Levin's musical and poetic inspirations are drawn form the roots of American forms of jazz and blues (along with many other international, cultural, folk, and classical forms) to grow into the more expansive techniques of the extended compositional and improvisational directions of modern innovators such as Cecil Taylor, Sun RA, Frank Zappa, and Don Van Vliet, to cite a few sources of inspiration. For the past 25 years, he has been intimately involved in the integral interplay of the language of music, and the music of language.
The ensemble - Elliott Levin, Voice/Original Poetry; Marc Adler, Bolivian Flute; Vic Stevens, Percussion. The Bolivian flute that Marc chose to play is rich in overtones and features the symmetrical whole-tone scale - an exotic ambiguous series of pitches providing the melodic inspiration for Vic Steven’s rhythmic improvisations.
The text of each poem is available to read as you listen through the Lyrics link to the right of each selection. For those that purchase the full album, the four poems will come with the audio files as a bonus item. Listen to Elliott as he breathes life into his poetry and carefully, artfully weaves his poems into the fabric of the soundscapes - merging his creative ideas with the music. His interpretations of his poetry are powerful and evocative - a truly captivating experience!
